Arab Center – Damascus

The Arab Center for Contemporary Syria Studies was officially established in Damascus under Decision No. 5522, issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor on December 9, 2025. It operates as a research institution dedicated to studies and research in the fields of social and human sciences, with special attention to contemporary Syrian issues and the related political, social, and economic transformations.

The Center conducts studies, research papers, and political assessments; organizes seminars, workshops, and scientific conferences; and develops specialized research programs, including the «Political Transition Studies» project. It also publishes the journal «Qalamun», a peer-reviewed scientific journal specialized in social and human sciences.

The Center organizes the «Annual Forum for Contemporary Syrian Studies», which brings together researchers, academics, and specialists focused on Syrian affairs to discuss issues and transformations related to Syria from multiple research perspectives.

The Center also seeks to consolidate cooperation with Syrian, Arab, and international universities, research institutions, and cultural organizations, thereby supporting scientific research and advancing studies related to Syrian affairs.
