A second, parallel track of sessions devoted to studying the foreign relations of the Gulf States. For the 2018 session, this parallel track will concentrate on "Gulf-United States Relations".
The background paper attached indicates the interest in the identity problems of Gulf societies, their cultural and political dimensions, and their relationship to the dynamic development of the Gulf societies. But literature on the topic is scarce. Regarding the second topic, the paper points out that the increasing disparity between the Gulf States and the United States, the decline in the importance of the Gulf and the growing inter-Gulf problems. These issues oblige the parties to pay more attention to a new types of relationship in place of the traditional oil for security approach.

Summaries of abstract papers should be received (within 400 words) by the end of May 2018. The abstract should clarify the research question, its importance, its contribution to the topic, and the methodology and sources.
