The Tunis office of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies will convene a three-day academic meeting on the role of social protest movements in periods of political transition. The meeting, to be hosted in the Tunisian capital, will take place on March 8-10, 2018. Further information is available below in both Arabic and French.
The meeting will allow scholars from across the Middle East and North Africa to study how social protest movements were able to oppose the decisions of long-standing governing elites, and of their governments' policies through their innovative techniques and ability to make use of limited provisions for personal freedom, if and where they existed.
