The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies will devote its fifth Annual Conference of Historical Studies to the Palestinian Nakba. Held between 12 and 14 May, 2018 in Doha, the meeting is also intended to mark the 70th anniversary of the dispossession of the Palestinian people in a rigorous academic setting.

The meeting will also host two plenary keynote lectures. The first, titled "Seventy Years of Nakba: The Future and Trajectory of the Palestinian Cause in Light of Present Circumstances," will delivered by ACRPS General Director Azmi Bishara. The second, "The Palestinian Question in Arab Historical Scholarship" will be delivered by Dr. Ali Mahafzah.  A total of 46 panelists will take part in nine panel sessions devoted to Arab historical scholarship on the Palestinian Nakba. Additionally, the conference will host a workshop on the findings of how the Palestinian cause was examined in formal, pre-tertiary curricula in the Arab states as well as the regular symposium hosted by the academic journal Ostour. The Ostour symposium is titled "100 Years since the Balfour Declaration".

Two other special presentations will be hosted within the wider conference. The first is a presentation of the findings of an ACRPS supported demographic study of the Palestinian Diaspora, undertaken by Dr. Youssef Courbage and Dr. Hala Noufal. The second is a presentation by Main Al Taher on an ACRPS led project to digitize the archive of the Palestinian Historical Memory Project.
