The third annual Gulf Studies Forum will be held from December 3-5, 2016 in Doha, Qatar. Hosted by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, the yearly event provides an opportunity for scholars from and of the Gulf to engage in frank and academically rigorous debate on the issues facing one of the globe’s most complex regions. In addition to a series of panels examining the regional and global international relations of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, a fixed theme at these events, the 2016 meeting will also provide a special focus on economic diversification within the GCC. Topics for discussion within this theme include the political challenges presented by the end of the oil era; the prospects for the adoption of renewable energies in the Gulf; and the challenges of building a knowledge economy. Full details of the procedures to be completed to participate in the conference can be found in the background paper (click here) or on the conference Event Page.
