The Iranian Studies Unit at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies will be holding its annual conference on Iranian studies on September 17-18, 2025.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Iran and the Changing Strategic Landscape of the Middle East.” The aim of the conference is to examine various aspects of Iranian foreign and security policies in relation to its immediate environment and the rest of the Middle East. Especially welcome are abstracts related to Iran’s evolving regional position in light of Israel’s war on Gaza; Iranian relations with regional non-state actors; the changing position of the “Axis of Resistance”; Iran’s relations with the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council; the impact of regional developments on Iran’s domestic politics; and other related topics.
Interested researchers should send their abstract (maximum 400 words) no later than March 15, 2025. The abstract should clearly define the research question, and explain the objectives and methods of the project. Only original contributions that have not been published or accepted for review and publication elsewhere will be accepted.
To submit research proposals, please fill out the online form.
Following the approval of abstract by the conference organizing committee, prospective participants should send the final draft of their papers (6,000-10,000 words, including footnotes and references) no later than June 1, 2025. All the submitted research papers will be subject to peer-review.
