Winter School 2026 on Post-Liberalism: Registration Open

Page Content

The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) announces the launch of the seventh International Winter School and the opening of registration to attend the program, which will be held from 10 to 15 January 2026 at the ACRPS, under the title: “The Post-Liberal Moment”: A Paradigm Shift or a Passing Trend?

This year’s Winter School is organized in light of ongoing scholarly and political debates surrounding what has come to be described as the “post-liberal moment,” and the questions it raises regarding the future of liberal democracy in the Global North, its resilience, and its capacity for adaptation, as well as the broader implications of these developments for the international order.

Over six days, the Winter School will bring together scholars and researchers from across the globe to discuss different dimensions of post-liberalism, including the crises facing liberal democracies, the shrinking of civic space, and transformations in the international system, as well as the implications of these processes for societies in both the Global North and the Global South.

The program includes five public lectures, two roundtables, and ten closed academic sessions. This year’s speakers include John Keane (University of Sydney), Marlène Laruelle (Luiss University, Italy), Faisal Devji (University of Oxford), Gábor Scheiring (Georgetown University in Qatar), and Harith Hasan (ACRPS). Professors and researchers from the faculty of the Doha Institute, ACRPS, Georgetown University in Qatar, and other universities in Qatar will be involved in discussing participants’ research projects.

In addition, the program features closed sessions in which 20 advanced PhD students and early career researchers will present their research projects. These projects cover a wide range of theoretical and empirical questions across disciplines.

While the public lectures and roundtables will be open to the public, attendance at the remaining sessions requires prior registration. The school invites students and academics from Qatar to submit their online registration form by 9 January 2026. Please note that seats are limited, and registration does not guarantee attendance and remains subject to confirmation.
