Translator- Editor (Arabic-English) [HRACRPS01]

The bilingual translator will provide written translation of general and research materials and other documents between Arabic and English Languages. 

Duties

Bilingual translator will translate from Arabic to English. Translate ACRPS documents with high levels of accuracy utilizing established formats and templates, or from scratch; and provide language editing upon request in a variety of settings. Prepare written translations of speeches, articles, policy papers, and conference materials such as research paper abstracts, concept papers and short biographies of scholars. Examine written Arabic documents for meaning and recreate this meaning in English. Editing translated document. Produce verbatim translations of texts using idiomatic expressions when appropriate. Edit and review translated materials submitted for accuracy of meaning, grammar, and syntax. Assist in the development and release of communications materials by revising, translating, and delivering requested documents. Operate Microsoft Office and standard office equipment. Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences from an accredited college or university (degree can be in a related field but with demonstrated relevant experience in the social sciences). 

Requirements

A minimum of two years translating/interpreting experience is required. Must be completely fluent in Arabic and English languages. Must be familiar with Social & Political subjects in the Middle East and objectives of assigned program and activities. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to read, write, speak, translate, edit, and interpret English and Arabic languages. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Work independently with little direction. Perform tasks under pressure and short deadlines. Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines. Ability to operate Microsoft Office and use online research and reference tools essential.
