The Academic Committee for the Arab Prize for the Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2015/2016 academic year has extended the deadline for consideration of previously published research works. The deadline is now being extended to August 15, 2015. All submissions need to meet the regulations set out in our guidelines, and need to be relevant to one of the chosen topics for this academic year: “Freedom in Contemporary Arab Thought” or “The Arab City and the Challenges of Urbanization for Societies in Transition”.

The Arab Prize in the Social Sciences and Humanities is awarded for one of two categories. The first category awards work which has not previously been published, and carries awards worth a total of US$ 100,000. These include a First ($25,000), Second ($15,000) and Third ($10,000) Prize in each of the two topics selected for the Arab Prize. (Please note submissions for this category are no longer being accepted for this academic year).

Deadline Extended for Previously Published Work

The second Prize category is awarded for research that has previously been published either in Arabic, or in one of a set of approved languages (see below). These include a First ($15,000), Second ($10,000) and Third ($5,000) Prize related to the two topics selected for the Arab Prize in any given year.

For the category of previously unpublished work the submitted work must:

a)      Be published in a recognized, peer-reviewed journal with a regional/global reputation, either in Arabic or in one of the following languages: English, French, German or Spanish

b)      The submitted work must be relevant to one of the two topics chosen for the Arab Prize in the 2015/2016 year

c)       The submitted work must have been published within two years of March, 2013

To have your work considered for the Arab Prize 2015/2016, kindly submit your work, in line with the approved submission guidelines to: annual.prize@dohainstitute.org before the end of the deadline
