This sixth round will address the interaction between media and war, exploring how conflicts and the media mutually influence each other, and examining how war coverage is shaped by ideological and cultural biases.

This round will feature five public lectures, a roundtable and a workshop. These lectures will be given by renowned and specialized scholars in the study of media. Des Freedman (Goldsmiths University of London), Dina Matar (SOAS University of London), Zahera Harb (City University of London), Walid Al-Saqaf (Doha Institute for Graduate Studies), and Tiziano Bonini (University of Siena).

In addition, 20 PhD students and early career researchers will present their research projects in closed sessions, covering a wide range of case studies from regions and war zones, including Palestine, Ukraine, Russia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Central Asia, the Balkans, and Mexico. These papers explore topics such as embedded journalism, cultural biases in media coverage, social media and censorship, and utilize diverse methodologies including computational analysis, discourse analysis, and thematic analysis.

While the lectures and roundtables will be open to the public, attendance of the sessions requires prior registration. Please note that seats are limited, and registration does not guarantee attendance and is subject to confirmation.
