​The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published the 57th issue (Summer 2026) of the quarterly peer-reviewed journal Tabayyun, dedicated to Philosophical Studies and Critical Theories. This issue contains the following studies: “Fear and political emotion: Spinoza and the relationship between authority and superstition” by Lemrabott Sneid; “From the Problem of Reason to the Fact of Action: Epistemological Shifts in Kant’s Concept of Freedom” by Jaouad Gria and Mohamed Meziane; “Leo Strauss’s Critique of Positivism: A Study of his Critique of Max Weber” by Abderrahim Rajrahi; “Taha Abdurrahman’s Account of the Connection between Reason and Sense Perception” by Abdellah bakkali; and “The Palestine Question and Abdallah Laroui's Historicism” by Mohamed Ourya and Lhaj Mohamed Nacik.

The issue also includes a discussion titled “Abdallah Laroui and Western Culture: Marx and Montesquieu as Pathways to Overcoming Historical Delay” by Soufian El Barrak. Also provided is a translation of Kristie Dotson’s “How Is This Paper Philosophy?” by Ali Hakim Salih. Two book reviews are featured: Mujahid Eldouma’s review of The Concept of African Cultural Authenticity: Problematic and Methodological Issues and Other Topics by Abdullah Bola; and Omar Badri’s review of The Politics in the Ethics of Emmanuel Levinas by Semi Al-Ghebri. The issue concludes with four overviews of recent publications prepared by the editorial board.
