On Saturday and Sunday 15-16 October 2022, the Unit of State & Political Systems Studies at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies will host a series of public lectures and activities featuring Lisa Anderson (Columbia University), Steven Heydemann (Smith College), Marc Lynch (George Washington University), Jillian Schwedler (City University of New York, Hunter College), and Sean Yom (Temple University).

Dr Steven Heydemann will give a public lecture entitled ‘The Poverty Puzzle in the Middle East: The Politics and Economics of Solidarity’ on Saturday 15 October at 4:00pm, ahead of the launch of The Political Science of the Middle East: Theory and Research Since the Arab Uprisings, edited by Marc Lynch, Jillian Schwedler, and Sean Yom, on 16 October at 10:00am. Dr Lisa Anderson will give a public lecture entitled ‘The Financialization of Everything: Revisiting Capital and Coercion in the Middle East’ at 2:00pm on the 16th.
