Published by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in June 2012, Financing Higher Education in Arab Countries (358 pages), is a specialist work that seeks to understand how funds are distributed within the university sector of education. Divided into seven chapters and an introduction written by the editor, Dr. Taher Kanaan (ACRPS) and Ahmad Jalal, this book looks at case studies from Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, and Morocco, provides a comparative study on all six countries. The books list of 116 tables and 55 graphs make it an invaluable resource for all scholars looking for high-quality material relating to education, development studies, human development, and economics.

Relying on primary sources in the Arabic language, the studies were also previously published in English in Prospects, a periodical on comparative educational studies published by UNESCO, after they had first been presented at a symposium in Cairo, before being collected here in book form. The combined book was also published in English (July 2010) by the Economic Research Forum (Cairo). In addition to Kanaan and Jalal, the volume contains contributions from Ashraf al-Arabi, Yasmine Fahim, Noha Sami, Mamdouh al-Salamat, May Hanania, Charbel Nahhas, Mohammed Bou Ghroum, Nader Qabbani, Saba Saloum, Taher Abdulsalam, and Omar Euberek.
