On Monday, 13 December 2021, the Center for Strategic Studies of the Qatari Ministry of Defense and the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies signed a memorandum of understanding to instigate cooperation, coordination and participation between the two parties according to their expertise in the fields of strategic research, training, exchange of expertise and other common interests.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Director of the Strategic Studies Center, Brigadier General (Pilot), Dr Rashed Hamad Al Nuaimi, and the General Director of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, Dr Azmi Bishara, in the presence of a number of officials and researchers from both parties.
The memorandum of understanding provided for cooperation in the exchange of research, including cooperation in translation, publishing, editing and copyediting, as well as holding training programs and joint events such as seminars, specialized conferences, academic activities and panel discussions, in addition periodic publications of books, peer-reviewed journals and published research. It also provided for the development of training and educational programs, and the provision of consultations with regard to studies and research and the organization of research projects.
The Arab Center is an independent think tank specialized in the social sciences and humanities, seeking to produce knowledge of Arab societies and committed to Arab issues and development in accordance with traditional cultural values and identity. The Center for Strategic Studies is a research center affiliated with the Qatari Armed Forces that conducts research and specialized military, political and economic strategic studies related to global changes and their local, regional and international repercussions to serve the national and military objectives of Qatar.
