Last September saw tensions heighten in the Gulf region following the attacks on Aramco installations in Saudi Arabia, cutting off half of Saudi oil production. Riyadh and Washington pointed the finger at Tehran, which has been in an ongoing conflict with the US following Trump’s May 2018 decision to pull out of the nuclear deal and re-impose sanctions on Iran.

Given the importance of the topic and its relation to the Gulf region, the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies is holding a symposium in conjunction with the Qatar University Gulf Studies Center on Monday 14 October 2019 to discuss the crisis.

The symposium will explore the causes, contexts and implications of the crisis, the position of the Iranian regime, the impact of economic sanctions on Iran and the future of negotiations with the United States. Both Arab and international researchers will participate in the event as part of the Arab Center initiative to cover Arab Issues and regional and international political developments.
